At what time should I arrive at your event?

Our events start at the scheduled time.  We recommend that you try to arrive at least 15 minutes to half an hour before start time. This would allow you time to register with our hostess and settle in. If a person shows up past the start time, they may still participate in the dating lineup.  But arriving late means that you will get fewer dates than the people who show up on time.

What should I talk about at a JSDNY Event

You can talk about many things. For example: What you do for fun, What sports do you like, Do you keep kosher, What you expect to get out of speed dating, to name a few.  If you can't come up with something to talk about, our match cards provide a list of things you can talk about.

What should I not talk about at a JSDNY date

Do not ask your date for his or her contact information directly or for a second date (the fun part about speed dating is the pressure free feeling).  You are not allowed to pressure someone to answer questions they do not want to answer.  You are also not allowed to ask sexual, lewd, or inappropriate questions to any participant, or make any sexual, lewd, or inappropriate remarks.

Do you charge extra to sign up over the phone?

No.  If you prefer, We can take credit card payments over the phone.  We also take checks over the phone.

Can someone come to your event without registering on your site?

If you show up at our event without having registered online, we can try to fit you in if there is an available spot. At that point, there is a small $10 fee for non-registered arrivals.  At the venue simply introduce yourself to our friendly host, register with her/him, pay the total fee ($45), and prepare for a great time.  Our host will give you a match card and add you to our roster of singles.

How long have you been in the speed dating business?

Our founders have been in the speed dating industry for about 2 years.  They have managed highly successful speed dating events in the New York City area. They are both native New Yorkers.

What should I bring with me to the event?

Bring photo ID in case you need to identify yourself to our host, and in case you want to have a drink at the cash bar. Don't forget your car keys or metro card.

How often do you have events?

We try to have events as often as possible.  Usually a couple of times per week.

Do I need to be single to attend your event?

Our policy is that each member be single or not otherwise attached. We do not perform any checks to verify the marital status of any participant.  Such checks are the responsibility of the participant seeking such information.   Divorced and separated persons who consider themselves single are allowed to register.

What if I can't make it to the event?

We require at least 5 days notice that you cannot come, that way we can offer your spot to someone on our waiting list.  You would then be able to use your admission at another one of our events.  If you do not call to let us know that you cannot show up, you forfeit your admission.

I purchased a Gift Certificate; how soon will the recipient get it?

If you purchased a Gift Certificate online or over the phone and requested that it be emailed, we email it the same day.  If you purchased a gift certificate online or via phone and you requested that it be mailed, we will put it in the mail the same day and it should arrive at the recipient's address as fast as the U.S. mail delivers it.

Are your events safe?

We believe speed dating is among one of the safest and fun things you can do.  We have chosen all our venues based on safety, friendliness, and reputation.  However, the world isn't perfect and we know that. That is why we urge everyone to make good decisions and get home safely every time.

How do you choose your venues?

Our venues are among NYC's most popular nightlife lounges, clubs, and restaurants. We have carefully chosen our venues based on safety, friendliness, and reputation.  We have also chosen our venues based on proximity to transportation, parking space, and well populated areas.

How soon after the event do I get notified of my matches?

You get notified of your matches the very next day via email.  We do not distribute physical addresses, only email addresses and/or phone numbers.

What are your privacy policies?

Your registration and attendance is CONFIDENTIAL.  Your name, email, address, phone number, etc is not shared with anyone. We do not sell your information to third parties, or answer phone inquiries regarding the attendance or participation of any participant to our events. We would only provide such information to local, state, or federal government agencies upon legal request or good reason, especially for the safety of our participants.

Is the information I enter on your website safe?

Yes. Your data and transactions are safe at JSDNY's website. We use a 128-Bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL).  This is the same technology used by companies like Toyota, Nextel, and eHarmony to protect their customers.

Is it safe to pay you by credit card?

Our merchant account is with PayPal Payments Pro, one of the most secure online merchants in the world.  PayPal allows us to accept credit card payments directly on our site. We are also fully protected by a 128-Bit SSL Certificate.

Do you accept PayPal?

Yes.  You can pay us with PayPal or by any credit card.  We also accept payments over the phone including checks.

Are you affiliated with SpeedDating.com?

No. We are in no way associated or affiliated with SpeedDating.com.  SpeedDating (one word, capital D) is a federally registered trademark of Aish HaTorah.  SpeedDating is a brand of "speed dating" provided by SpeedDating.com.  Speed dating (in two words) is a generic term used to describe an organized social event where a person is paired up with several people for short one-on-one dates in one evening.  If you were looking for the SpeedDating brand system of speed dating please visit SpeedDating.com.

Can I bring a friend?

You can bring a friend for support but he/she cannot participate in the event unless they are a registered participant.

What makes you different than other speed dating event planners in NY?

We have lived in NY all our lives.  We know the communities, the venues, our customers, and we love what we do.

Do you plan and host speed dating events outside of NY?

Currently we specialize in Jewish speed dating in NY only.  But we get many visitors from all over.  After all, everyone comes to NY.  From singles in New Jersey, to visitors from Israel, we have people from all over coming to our Jewish speed dating events.

Do we get free food and beverages at the venues?

Many of our venues offer food and beverages but they are at a cost.  We try to arrange all our events during happy hour, so that when our events are at lounges, refreshments are very affordable.

Can a separated or divorced person attend your event?

JSDNY introduces Jewish singles to each other for love or friendship.  If you are separated or divorced and consider yourself a single, and are looking for love or friendship, then you are encouraged to attend our event.
